The Warehouse District sits just west of Fayetteville Street, around the old railroad depot. From the 1850s to the 1950s it was the city’s railroad and warehouse distribution hub. Its four blocks of brick buildings, dating from the 1880s to the early 1950s, were listed on the National Register as the Depot Historic District in 2002. Raleigh Union Station opened on West Martin Street in 2018, and Amtrak trains stop there now. A few blocks west, the Joel Lane Museum House was built in 1769, before the capital was laid out on Lane’s land in 1792. This list runs from a morning coffee to an evening drink, all within a short walk.
