We are a small editorial team that lives in Raleigh. We write every listing on this site ourselves, and we visit the places we recommend. Nobody pays to be reviewed, and nobody pays to be written about kindly. Photos are credited. Until we’ve shot a place ourselves, the pictures come from the business, with their name on them.
Places get here one of two ways: we find them, or a reader tells us about them. Either way somebody goes, sits down, and spends money like anyone else. If a place does not hold up, it does not go in — and if it stops holding up, it comes out.
Featured listings are how the directory stays free to read. A business can pay for a fuller listing: a written feature and placement in the categories and neighborhoods where it belongs. What that never buys is a recommendation. We only build a Featured listing for a place we already recommend.
